Planes and People | |||
People’s dream to fly like birds goes back to the days of faraway history. Everyone has heard the Greek legend about courageous Icarus and Daedalus. The legend says that Icarus was heading the sun and burnt his wings during the flight. The famous artist Leonardo da Vinci designed a man-powered aircraft according to the shape of birds’ wing and he was a genius. Then there were more followers, which came close to our days when nobody asks about the construction of planes but just flight to different cities and countries enjoying the speed and comfort of them. People don’t care about the hardships that may occur during the flight like it has happened, for example, with the first lady’s airplane not long ago. Pilots must be very careful and attentive because sometimes computers fail them and they have to control the situation. Otherwise nobody will present at the convention or meeting. A plane is a flying device that is heavier than air – it is capable to flight using forward motion that generates lift as the wing moves through the air. The aeroplane or airplane consists of fuselage, wing, and landing gear, a set of wheels, plumage, power tool and diverse equipment. At least one engine to provide thrust to push the aircraft forward through the air. All airplanes differ according to their using – civil and military; the type of propeller – reactive and spiral. They may be twin-boom configuration – a twin engine fixed-wing airplane. | |||
